Rendez-vous in Argelès-sur-Mer 66700 Argelès-sur-Mer fr

Down on the
Mediterranean sea-side, in the extreme south of France, a 7
kilometre long sandy beach awaits you
. Here, the Pyrenees flow into the sea creating the
"Côte Vermeille", which stretches to the Spanish border through
Collioure and Banyuls-sur-Mer. Situated in the heart of Catalan country, 20
minutes from Perpignan and the foothills of the Albera, Argelès-sur-Mer awaits

On the seafront there's the 12ha pine forest and 3km long
tree-fringed promenade to discover and stroll around. To the south in the
direction of Collioure, you will find the scenic harbour and then a small tiny
paradise known as le Racou (meaning corner in

Texts referred to it from as early as the 9th century. The fortified town was connected with the
kings of Aragon and Majorca in the 13th and 14th centuries and the village finally became part of
French territory in 1659.

A typical village is a colourful and eccentric environment with a
Catalan accent decorated and filled with warrens of narrow streets, there's the
crenellated tower church (14th century), the ramparts and city walls made
of 'cayroux', the traditional market, craft industry and festivals.

There's an ideal port of call in a new harbour that's been equipped with 750
moorings and is now providing all types of services: refueling, maintenance,
fittings, a sail loft and boat repairs.

Just a few short
miles from Cape Béar, you'll certainly enjoy mooring your boat here for several
days, right in the heart of the Catalan region.

A 'canton' or distrcit, is collectively about 8 villages at
the foot of the Albères, of which Argelès-sur-mer is the main town.

The villages are conveniently gathered to allow you to explore a great
number of itineraires based on culture, leisure activities and active sports
(35 sites, walking, mountain-biking and horse-riding holidays available).
