Destination Saint-Jean-de-Monts 85160 Saint Jean de Monts

Saint-Jean-de-Monts sits opposite the lle d’Yeu on France’s Côte de Lumière or “Coast of Light”.

A major resort set in a carefully preserved natural environment, it offers a range of different sea, dune, forest and marsh landscapes to explore.

Stretching over eight kilometres, the fine sandy beach slopes gently to the sea providing a safe bathing environment where you can swim, sunbathe and play to your heart’s content.

Between the seafront and the town itself lies a 25-km long strip of forest that conceals a network of walking routes and cycle paths – ideal for a leisurely walk or bike ride through the maritime pines and holm oaks.

The town also offers a wide range of sporting, leisure and cultural events and activities as well as all the usual services and accommodation options. Close at hand and open to all, they include golf, horse-riding, kite surfing, rollerblading, cycling and sand yachting.

Saint-Jean-de-Monts has always paid special attention to the needs of children, both in the type and quality of the leisure activities it offers and as regards the environmental issues that so affect them today.

You’ll even find a range of local produce available in the various markets in the area.

All in all, an ideal destination for a healthy and relaxing holiday with family or friends!

A children’s paradise

You’ll find that all the activities on offer also come in “kids’ sizes”, including water sports (dinghy and catamaran sailing, sand yachting, the Jardin des Mers sailing classes designed to introduce under-7s to the pleasures and pitfalls of the sea), pony trekking, archery, tennis, nature walks, a woodland adventure park and even art workshops. All sporting activities are run by qualified instructors trained to work with children. The gently sloping beach and lack of strong currents at Saint-Jean-de-Monts, coupled with trained life guards, easily recognisable totem-poles to help you get your bearings and free ID bracelets for children make this a perfect place for kids to swim and play.

Wellness – Sea spa with the largest seawater treatment pool in France (300m²) heated to a steady 34°C, water fun park, exhibitions and shows at the Odysséa arena, casino, cycle paths, explorer and GPS walks.

Sport and nature – Water sports centre, sand yachting, 18-hole golf course on sandy soil known for its technical difficulty, woodland adventure course, tennis, archery and horse-riding centres.

Try a fun way of exploring the woods, marshes and seaside resort of Saint-Jean-de-Monts with a series of treasure-hunt-style GPS walks and cycle rides.

A range of guided walks are also available to familiarise you with the local area.

26km of cycle paths mean you can move around the resort safely without having to worry about the traffic.

A stroll through the forest to the Belvedere offers a bird’s eye view of the surrounding woodland and marshes.

You’ll also find a range of local seafood and other produce on sale at the town’s various markets all year round.
