Rendez-vous in Estaing
This picturesque medieval city is located in northern Aveyron at the mouth of the Lot river and at the foot of the Aubrac mountains.
Classified as one of France's Most Beautiful Villages, Estaing (which has a population of 610) gained importance over the centuries through its rich heritage, notably the Gothic bridge on the Lot River and its beautiful wrought-iron cross, created by Henri Lesueur.
The bridge is classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site of the Routes of Santiago Compostela in France, as it lies along the route traveled by pilgrims each year on their way to St. Jacques.

Classified as a Historic Monument in 1945 , it was built in the 13th century around a pentagonal dungeon. At the summit of the dungeon, you can find five turrets and a lantern shaped roof as well as a terrace offering impressive views over the Lot.

Every first Sunday of July, Estaing celebrates the feast of its patron saint, former bishop of Clermont, who died in Estaing in the year 620.
