Christmas Markets in and around Nancy Nancy fr

From 27 November to 31 December 2015

One of the most important traditional events in the Lorraine, the Saint-Nicolas festival in Nancy takes place on the first weekend in December. It is the unmissable festival of the year, with the streets and squares of the city lit by traditional decorations and actors and musicians providing lively entertainment for the crowds.

Nancy’s Christmas Market, meanwhile, is held at various sites in the city centre, with 50 little wooden chalets selling presents, jewellery, arts and crafts, as well as sweets, gingerbread, mulled wine and other delicacies. In addition to the Christmas Market, an arts and crafts market takes place in Rue des Ponts.

The largest Christmas Market in the Lorraine is undoubtedly the one in Metz. Held at various locations around the city, this event includes traditional markets in Place Saint Louis, a Father Christmas village in Place du Forum, an arts and crafts market on the Esplanade and a night market in Place Saint Jacques.

During the month of December, the city centre takes on a village-like feel, with over 80 wooden chalets with different coloured roofs, a nativity scene and a decorated Christmas tree. From the top of the largest mobile Big Wheel in Europe, the whole of Metz is at your feet, boasting views of this 2,000-year-old city which will really take your breath away!

This traditional Christmas market attracts more than 80,000 visitors over the four weekends in December during which Plombières-les-Bains is decorated in shades of red, white and silver.

With its attractively decorated wooden chalets, the Christmas Market in the centre of Sarreguemines takes on the feel of a small village. Bathed in light, the 45 traditional chalets set up in Place Sibille offer a real feast for the eyes and the tastebuds.
