"International Heritage Show" 2014 à Paris
Transmission – a major challenge for the future of the sector
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the International Heritage Show. It has been present on the international fair scene for 20 years, and the number of exhibitors and visitors has been rising steadily, despite the difficult economic context. The show is as dynamic as the heritage sector itself, which has addressed economic and social challenges and has inspired the theme of this anniversary edition of the show : transmission.
The number of exhibitors has increased by 22% since 2011 and the number of visitors by 10%. This year, the annual venue for heritage professionals will once again bring together 330 exhibitors from
over 40 different professions (restorers, raw material suppliers, heritage preservation associations, built heritage companies, schools offering restoration courses, auction houses, etc.).
Transmission is more than simply the idea of passing something on – it is a subject of highly topical interest. Various means of transmission have been set up or developed over the past few years: workshop training for apprentices (a recent effort by public authorities to promote apprenticeship), grants to encourage business transfers, etc. These initiatives all help to preserve our heritage culture and to ensure that exceptional skills will continue to be handed down from generation to generation.
