The Jumping International de Bordeaux, a historic event that is part of the Longines FEI World Cup equestrian league, is one of those competitions which all horse riders dream of winning.

Just as the opening event of this prestigious series had a real French feel to it, with French competitors making a spectacular start by claiming a historic hat-trick during the Oslo competition, so will the closing event be resolutely French with the Jumping International de Bordeaux chosen once again as the venue for the World Cup Driving final, as well as hosting the last stage of the European final of the Showjumping World Cup.

The sporting stakes couldn’t be higher in Bordeaux

This year the Showjumping World Cup comprises 11 stages and Bordeaux will be the last of these before the final in Gothenburg (23 to 28 March). Bordeaux will take centre-stage at what will effectively be the European decider as it will determine the winner of the difficult Western Europe league as well as the 18 European qualifiers who will compete against title-holder and Olympic champion Steve Guerdat in Sweden.

The stakes in Bordeaux are doubly important in this Olympic year, as French riders will be especially keen to demonstrate their riding skills to the national trainer and father of the winner of the last World Cup, Philippe Guerdat, during this first International Jumping competition in the French calendar.

There’s plenty of sporting excitement on the cards in Aquitaine this year!
