Lyon is the Europe's Leading City Break Destination in 2016

2017 promises to be an excellent vintage for Lyon ! It was voted Europe's Leading City Break Destination 2016 by the World Travel Awards.

With this international recognition, Lyon is more than ever before a trending and dynamic destination to discover or rediscover!

The hotel sector is one of the most dynamic areas of Lyon’s tourism industry. The four-star Radisson Blu, which has been fully renovated and recently reopened, now offers 245 luxury rooms, on the 32nd floor of one of the Part-Dieu district’s skyscrapers. With a more understated style, the five-star Maïa Hotel, which is set to open in February 2017, will have around forty high-end rooms offering a commanding view over the city from Fourvière hill.

Lyon is well-known for its gastronomy.
A number of young chefs will sparkle with their first Michelin star this year, such as Gaëtan Gentil at the Prairial, and Youghoon Lee at the Passe-temps. Elsewhere, Chef Bruno Vitrac is a little bit closer to the stars in the second highest restaurant in France, the aptly named ‘Celest’, which sits at the top of the Tour Part Dieu skyscraper.

2017 will also be the year of the Contemporary Art Biennial, which offers opportunities to see works of art at La Sucrière, MacLyon (Lyon Museum of Contemporary Art) and other venues, soon to be revealed. Emma Lavigne, director of Centre-Pompidou Metz, will be the curator of this latest edition.
