Wine-Growers' Festival in Eguisheim
The wine-growers' festival of Eguisheim, the cradle of Alsace's wine-growing region, is the biggest wine-growing festival in Alsace. It brings together more than 15,000 people every year.
Starting at 3pm on the Saturday, an orchestra brings the Château square to life. Then starts a festive, event-filled evening with 5 orchestras in different parts of the village. The wine-growers open their courtyards and their cellars and invite visitors to come and taste the local Grands Crus. Over the two days, an artists' circuit in the ramparts presents some forty local artists and artisans who share their know-how with visitors: paintings, jewellery, marquetry, calligraphy, cooperage, and more.
The procession on the Sunday afternoon is the festival's climax: bands, folk groups and floats make their way through the village.
