The Champs-Elysées: Pedestrian Zone! avenue des champs-elysées paris fr

Oh yes, for one Sunday every month the Champs-Elysées is completely taken over by pedestrians, providing a calm and peaceful setting for visitors and Parisians alike to stroll along this legendary avenue. Take a photo from a new angle, walk quietly hand-in-hand, and let your kids cycle to their heart’s content, all in the middle of the road but without any traffic to worry about.

Come and admire stunning Haussmann-inspired buildings, stop for a bite to eat or enjoy a shopping trip on the world’s most beautiful avenue all in the calm of a vehicle-free street.

A shopper’s paradise

A temple to outdoor shopping, the Champs-Elysées (despite its connotations) actually has something for every taste and budget: from major department stores and their ready-to-wear collections to luxury individual boutiques, the choice of Parisian chic on offer is endless.

If your budget is a little higher, and your tastes a little more towards motor oil, some of the world’s leading car manufacturers have showrooms on the Champs-Elysées.

Feeling peckish?

Foodies will also be in their element on the Champs-Elysées, as the avenue is home to some of the smartest restaurants in Paris, from chic tea-rooms to the very best gastronomic haunts.

Just imagine the pleasure of eating on a traffic-free outdoor terrace – a very rare occurrence in Paris! Make the most of this opportunity by trying some of the famous Ladurée macaroons, or enjoying a memorable meal at one of the famous Michelin-starred restaurants along this iconic avenue.

After dark

The Avenue des Champs-Elysées is also home to some of the city’s most impressive nightlife. Attend a play at one of its theatres, experience the glitz and glamour of the Lido cabaret, or take to the streets to experience one of the un-missable festivals and events Paris is so famous for.

Room with a view

At the top of the Champs-Elysées, you can’t miss the Arc-de-Triomphe, another of Paris’s famous landmarks. And if you head to the top of this 50m high monument you’ll be rewarded with a superb panoramic view of the city!
